Duryodhana Seeks Droṇa’s Counsel; Imperative to Protect Jayadratha; Pāñcāla Assault on Duryodhana
aṣṭāviṁśāṁs tu tān bāṇān astān viprekṣya niṣphalān | abravīt paravīraghnaḥ kṛṣṇo 'rjunam idaṁ vacaḥ ||
Sañjaya said: Seeing that those twenty-eight arrows which had been shot had proved fruitless, Kṛṣṇa—slayer of hostile heroes—addressed Arjuna with these words. The moment underscores the ethic of clear-sighted reassessment in battle: when an effort fails, one must not persist blindly but respond with counsel, strategy, and steadiness of purpose.
