भीमकर्णसमागमः | Bhīma–Karṇa Encounter
तेन युद्धमहं मन्ये प्राप्तकालं तवानघ । अत्र वो द्यूतमायत्तं विजयायेतराय वा,निष्पाप अर्जुन! मैं समझता हूँ, इस समय इसीके साथ युद्ध करनेका अवसर प्राप्त हुआ है। यहाँ तुमलोगोंके अधीन जो रणद्यूत होनेवाला है, वही विजय अथवा पराजयका कारण होगा
tena yuddham ahaṁ manye prāptakālaṁ tavānagha | atra vo dyūtam āyattaṁ vijayāyetarāya vā ||
Therefore, O sinless one, I judge that the time has now come for you to engage in battle with him. Here, the issue is like a wager of war resting upon you: it will become the very cause of either victory or defeat—depending on how you act at this decisive moment.
वायुदेव उवाच
The verse stresses timely action and personal responsibility: the decisive moment has arrived, and the outcome—victory or defeat—depends upon one’s resolve and conduct, framed through the metaphor of a high-stakes wager.
Vāyudeva addresses Arjuna, urging him that the proper time to fight has come. He characterizes the imminent engagement as a ‘wager of war’ whose result will hinge on Arjuna (and his side), determining either triumph or loss.
