Sanjaya said: “O King, when the great-souled son of Kunti had brought forth water, checked the advance of the hostile army, and fashioned a protective ‘house’ of arrows, then the mighty Lord Krishna at once descended from the chariot and unyoked the horses that had been torn and wounded by barbed shafts.”

Educational Q&A

Even amid warfare, dharma includes responsible care: Arjuna’s protective measures and Krishna’s immediate attention to the wounded horses show that duty is not mere aggression but disciplined action that safeguards one’s dependents and resources.

After Arjuna produces water and halts the enemy’s advance by creating an arrow-built defensive shelter, Krishna quickly gets down from the chariot and unyokes the horses injured by barbed arrows, preparing for the next phase of the pursuit toward Jayadratha.
