Sañjaya said: The mighty Arjuna, countering the enemies’ missiles with his own weapons on every side, swiftly covered them all with a dense shower of arrows. The verse underscores disciplined mastery in battle—defense that restrains harm and decisive action that overwhelms aggression without losing control.

The verse highlights controlled strength: a warrior’s excellence lies not merely in attack but in disciplined defense—neutralizing hostile force and then acting decisively to end the threat. Ethically, it reflects kṣatriya-dharma as skill guided by restraint and purpose rather than uncontrolled violence.
Sañjaya describes Arjuna in the thick of battle: he blocks the enemy’s incoming missiles from every direction using corresponding weapons, and then rapidly blankets the opposing fighters with a heavy volley of arrows, gaining tactical dominance.
