Adhyāya 86: Irāvān’s Lineage, Cavalry Clash, and the Māyā-Duel Ending in Irāvān’s Fall
विव्याध निशितैस्तूर्ण शरै: संनतपर्वभि: | तावेन॑ प्रत्यविध्येतां समरे चित्रयोधिनौ,उन तीनों वीरोंका युद्ध अत्यन्त रोमांचकारी हुआ। इरावानने कुपित होकर देवताओंके समान रूपवान् दोनों भाई विन्द और अनुविन्दको झुकी हुई गाँठवाले तीखे बाणोंसे तुरंत घायल कर दिया। वे भी समरांगणमें विचित्र युद्ध करनेवाले थे। अतः उन्होंने भी इरावान्को बींध डाला
vivyādha niśitais tūrṇaṃ śaraiḥ saṃnata-parvabhiḥ | tāv enaṃ pratyavidhyetāṃ samare citra-yodhinau ||
Sañjaya said: Irāvān swiftly pierced those two with sharp arrows whose joints were bent. Then those two—fighters famed for their varied and artful combat—struck back in the battle and pierced Irāvān in return. The encounter of these heroes became intensely charged, each answering injury with injury in the relentless rhythm of war.
