भीष्मस्य भीमसेन-निरोधः

Bhīṣma checks Bhīmasena; matched engagements intensify

न हि पश्यामि त॑ वीरं यो मे रक्षेत्‌ सुतान्‌ रणे

na hi paśyāmi taṁ vīraṁ yo me rakṣet sutān raṇe

Dhṛtarāṣṭra said: “Indeed, I do not see that hero who could protect my sons in battle.” In this anxious confession, the blind king’s attachment to his sons and fear of the war’s moral and practical consequences surface together, hinting at the fragility of power when rooted in partiality rather than dharma.
