भीष्मपर्व — अध्याय ६६: तुमुलसंग्रामवर्णनम्
The Tumult of Battle Described
त॑ तथा भीमकर्माणं प्रगृहीतमहागदम् । दृष्टवा वृकोदरं भीष्म: सहसैव समभ्ययात्,अपने बलसे सेनाको विदीर्ण करनेवाले भीमसेन सम्पूर्ण सैनिकोंको अपना ग्रास बनानेके लिये मुँह बाये हुए कालके समान जान पड़ते थे। उस समय बड़ी भारी गदा उठाये हुए भयंकर पराक्रमी भीमसेनको देखकर भीष्मजी सहसा वहाँ पहुँचे
taṁ tathā bhīmakarmāṇaṁ pragṛhīta-mahāgadaṁ | dṛṣṭvā vṛkodaraṁ bhīṣmaḥ sahasaiva samabhyayāt ||
Seeing Vṛkodara—mighty in deeds—holding aloft his massive mace, Bhīṣma at once rushed toward him. The scene frames Bhīma as a force capable of tearing through armies, and Bhīṣma’s immediate advance reflects the warrior-ethic of meeting overwhelming violence with disciplined courage and responsibility on the battlefield.
