गौरवं पाण्डुपुत्राणां मान्यान् मानयतां च तान् | दृष्टवा महीक्षितस्तत्र पूजयाउ्चक्रिरे भूशम्,माननीय पुरुषोंका सम्मान करनेवाले पाण्डवोंके उस गौरवको देखकर सब भूपाल उनकी बड़ी प्रशंसा करने लगे
gauravaṃ pāṇḍuputrāṇāṃ mānyān mānayatāṃ ca tān | dṛṣṭvā mahīkṣitastatra pūjayāṃ cakrire bhūśam ||
Sañjaya said: Seeing the dignity of the sons of Pāṇḍu—men who themselves honor the honorable—those kings present there began to extol them greatly and to pay them marked respect. The scene underscores an ethical ideal: true eminence is shown not by demanding honor, but by giving it rightly to those who deserve it.
संजय उवाच
Honor is ethically grounded: those who respect the worthy (mānyān mānayataḥ) naturally gain true prestige (gaurava). Social esteem follows dharmic conduct rather than self-assertion.
Sañjaya reports that the assembled kings, observing the Pāṇḍavas’ noble demeanor and their habit of honoring venerable persons, respond by praising them and showing them great respect.
