Arjuna said: Those who know Brahman and depart from life along the path presided over by fire, light, daytime, the bright fortnight, and the six months of the sun’s northern course—such persons, guided step by step by these divine powers, attain Brahman. The teaching highlights a disciplined, luminous course of departure associated with spiritual knowledge and ethical self-mastery, contrasting with darker paths driven by ignorance.

The verse teaches that realized knowers of Brahman, departing along the ‘luminous’ sequence—fire, light, day, bright fortnight, and the sun’s northern course—are led onward to attain Brahman. It emphasizes liberation through spiritual knowledge and alignment with an auspicious, orderly cosmic path.
Arjuna is speaking about the post-death journey of yogins who know Brahman. He describes a specific, auspicious route of departure, marked by deities and time-divisions, through which such persons are progressively guided to the supreme goal.
