Rāja-Vidyā Rāja-Guhya Yoga (राजविद्या राजगुह्य योग) — The Yoga of Royal Knowledge and Royal Secret

sa tayā śraddhayā yuktaḥ tasyārādhanam īhate | labhate ca tataḥ kāmān mayāiva vihitān hi tān |

Endowed with that faith, a person strives to worship that deity; and from that deity he indeed obtains the desired enjoyments—yet those enjoyments are, in truth, ordained by Me alone. The ethical point is that devotion may be directed to many forms, but the fruits of action are ultimately governed by the supreme order, not by mere preference or impulse.

Educational Q&A

Even when one worships a particular deity with sincere faith, the attainment of desired results is ultimately governed by the supreme divine ordinance; the deity becomes the channel, but the sanction of the fruit belongs to the highest principle (here, Krishna).

In the dialogue on the battlefield, the speaker explains how people, driven by faith, worship various deities for specific desires, and how they receive those desired outcomes—while emphasizing that such outcomes are, in reality, granted according to the overarching divine order.
