The Yoga of the Imperishable Brahman
३९ ।। श्रीभगवानुवाच पार्थ नैवेह नामुत्र विनाशस्तस्य विद्यते । न हि कल्याणकृत् कश्रिद् दुर्गतिं तात गच्छति,श्रीभगवान् बोले--हे पार्थ! उस पुरुषका न तो इस लोकमें नाश होता है और न परलोकमें ही; क्योंकि हे प्यारे! आत्मोद्धारके लिये अर्थात् भगवत्प्राप्तिके लिये कर्म करनेवाला कोई भी मनुष्य दुर्गतिको प्राप्त नहीं होताः
śrībhagavān uvāca pārtha naiveha nāmutra vināśas tasya vidyate | na hi kalyāṇakṛt kaścid durgatiṃ tāta gacchati ||
The Blessed Lord said: “O Pārtha, for one who strives toward the good, there is no ruin—neither in this world nor in the next. Indeed, dear one, a person who acts for inner uplift and for attaining the Divine never falls into a wretched end.”
अजुन उवाच
Sincere effort toward dharma and God-realization is never wasted: it protects a person from spiritual ruin in this life and the next, and it does not lead to a degraded end.
On the battlefield, Kṛṣṇa reassures Arjuna—who is anxious about the consequences of action and the risk of failure—that righteous striving and spiritual discipline do not result in loss; such effort safeguards one’s destiny.
