उत्पातवर्णनम् (Utpāta-varṇanam) — Catalogue of Portents
एतच्छुत्वा भवानत्र प्राप्तकालं व्यवस्यताम् । यथा लोक: समुच्छेदं नायं गच्छेत भारत,भारत! यह सुनकर (और उसके परिणामपर विचार करके) तुम इस अवसरके अनुरूप ऐसा कोई उपाय करो, जिससे यह संसार विनाशसे बच जाय
etac chrutvā bhavān atra prāptakālaṃ vyavasyatām | yathā lokaḥ samucchedaṃ nāyaṃ gacchet bhārata bhārata ||
Having heard this, you should, here and now, resolve upon the course of action suited to the present crisis, so that this world, O Bhārata, may not go to utter ruin.
व्यास उवाच
When a decisive moment arrives, one must act with timely resolve, choosing a course that prevents widespread harm and preserves the social and moral order (loka).
Vyāsa addresses a Kuru descendant (Bhārata), urging him—after hearing a grave warning or counsel—to make an immediate, appropriate decision so that the impending catastrophe does not culminate in the destruction of the world.
