सम्बन्ध-- इस प्रकार भगवान्‌के मुखये उनके जन्मका तत्त्व युननेपर यह जिज्ञासा होती है कि आप किस-किस समय और किन-किन कारणोंसे इस प्रकार अवतार धारण करते हैं। इसपर भगवान्‌ दो शलोकोंमें अपने अवतारके अवसर, हेतु और उद्देश्य बतलाते हैं-- यदा यदा हि धर्मस्य ग्लानिर्भवति भारत । अभ्युत्थानमधर्मस्य तदा55त्मानं सृजाम्यहम्‌,हे भारत! जब-जब धर्मकी हानि और अधर्मकी वृद्धि होती है,” तब-तब ही मैं अपने रूपको रचता हूँ अर्थात्‌ साकाररूपसे लोगोंके सम्मुख प्रकट होता हूँ

yadā yadā hi dharmasya glānir bhavati bhārata | abhyutthānam adharmasya tadātmānaṁ sṛjāmy aham ||

Whenever righteousness declines, O Bhārata, and unrighteousness rises in strength, then I bring forth Myself—manifesting in a tangible form before the world. The verse frames divine intervention not as arbitrary miracle, but as a moral response to systemic collapse: when ethical order falters and injustice becomes dominant, the Divine appears to restore balance and protect the conditions in which dharma can be lived.

The Divine manifests whenever moral order (dharma) weakens and injustice (adharma) becomes dominant. The purpose is ethical restoration—re-establishing conditions where righteousness can survive and flourish.
