yā caiṣā viśrutā rājan trailokye sādhusammatā | arundhatī tayāpy eṣa vasiṣṭhaḥ pṛṣṭhataḥ kṛtaḥ ||
Vaiśampāyana said: “O King, even Arundhatī—renowned throughout the three worlds and honored by the virtuous—has, by her own excellence, placed Vasiṣṭha behind her.” The statement highlights the moral authority of steadfast wifely devotion: true virtue can elevate one’s standing so greatly that even the most revered are seen as following in its wake.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
