Granting Sañjaya Divine Sight and the Description of Omens
vaiśampāyana uvāca evam uktvā sa bhagavān kurūṇāṃ prapitāmahaḥ | punar eva mahābhāgo dhṛtarāṣṭram uvāca ha ||
Vaiśampāyana said: Having spoken thus, the blessed Vyāsa—great-grandfather of the Kurus—again addressed Dhṛtarāṣṭra. The narration underscores Vyāsa’s role as a moral elder returning to counsel the blind king, whose choices bear ethical weight for the coming conflict.
The verse highlights the ethical function of wise counsel: an elder-sage (Vyāsa), as ancestral authority, returns to guide a ruler (Dhṛtarāṣṭra). It implies that leadership must heed dharma-informed advice, especially when decisions can lead to widespread harm.
After finishing a prior statement, Vyāsa is described as speaking once more to Dhṛtarāṣṭra. The line serves as a narrative bridge, marking a renewed address and preparing the listener for the next portion of counsel or revelation.
