अन्वासन्त दुराधर्ष देवव्रतमरिंदमम्‌ । अन्योन्यं प्रीतिमन्तस्ते यथापूर्व यथावय:,कौरव तथा पाण्डव युद्धसे निवृत्त हो कवच खोलकर अस्त्र-शस्त्र नीचे डालकर पहलेकी भाँति परस्पर प्रेमभाव रखते हुए अवस्थाकी छोटाई-बड़ाईके अनुसार यथोचित क्रमसे शत्रुदमन दुर्जय वीर देवव्रत भीष्मके समीप एक साथ बैठ गये

sañjaya uvāca |

anvāsanta durādharṣa devavratam ariṃdamam | anyonyaṃ prītimantas te yathāpūrvaṃ yathāvayaḥ ||

Sañjaya said: Then those warriors—Kauravas and Pāṇḍavas—who were hard to assail, laid aside their armour and set down their weapons, withdrew from the fighting, and, as before, sat together near Devavrata Bhīṣma, the subduer of foes. Maintaining mutual goodwill, they took their seats in due order according to age and seniority—showing that even amid war, respect for elders and the bonds of kinship could reassert themselves when hostilities paused.
