Sañjaya said: “Listen as I recount it. In keeping with their respective strength and ardor, your sons launched their assault upon the assembled Pāṇḍava great chariot-warriors. In that encounter, O King, Citrasena advanced against Cekitāna.”

The verse underscores measured exertion in action—fighters engage ‘according to strength and zeal’—and frames warfare as a field where personal capacity and resolve shape conduct, while the narrator maintains truthful, orderly reporting to the king.
Sañjaya continues describing the battle: the Kaurava forces attack the gathered Pāṇḍava great chariot-warriors, and specifically Citrasena moves to confront (or strike at) Cekitāna.
