भीष्मस्य अप्रतिमपराक्रमः — शिखण्डिपुरस्कृतः प्रहारः
Bhīṣma’s unmatched momentum and the assault with Śikhaṇḍin in the lead

Sañjaya said: O King, Kṛtavarmā checked Dhṛṣṭadyumna as he rushed forward in the battle, eager to press on and fight after coming close to Bhīṣma. Meanwhile Bhīmasena, fiercely enraged and intent on killing Gāḍeya, advanced with deadly purpose. The scene underscores how, amid the chaos of war, warriors are restrained or redirected by allies and opponents alike—revealing both tactical necessity and the moral weight of intent (especially the resolve to kill).

Even in righteous warfare, intention and self-control matter: warriors may be driven by anger and the urge to kill, yet the narrative highlights restraint and tactical checking by others, reminding that dharma in war includes discipline, not merely ferocity.
Dhṛṣṭadyumna rushes toward Bhīṣma to fight, but Kṛtavarmā restrains him; at the same time Bhīma, furious, moves with the aim of killing the warrior Gāḍeya.
