Bhīmasena’s Engagement with Multiple Mahārathas
sañjaya uvāca | nijagrāha mahābāhur bāhubhyāṃ parigṛhya vai | nigṛhyamāṇaḥ pārthena kṛṣṇo rājīvalocanaḥ ||
Sañjaya said: The mighty-armed Arjuna, closing in from behind, seized Kṛṣṇa firmly with both arms and restrained him. Thus held back by Pārtha, the lotus-eyed Kṛṣṇa was checked—an episode that underscores the tension between righteous restraint and the surge of wrath amid the moral crisis of war.

Even in a righteous war, dharma requires mastery over impulse: the scene highlights the ethical necessity of restraint—checking anger and preventing actions driven by sudden wrath, even when provoked.
Sañjaya reports that Arjuna runs after Kṛṣṇa and physically holds him with both arms, restraining him; Kṛṣṇa, described as lotus-eyed, is shown being held back by Arjuna.
