यज्ञवाटवैभववर्णनम् / Description of the Splendour of the Sacrificial Enclosure
ity uktaḥ puruṣaśreṣṭhas tadā kṛṣṇena dhīmatā | provāca vṛṣṇiśārṭūlam evam etad iti prabho prabho ||
Thus addressed by the wise Kṛṣṇa, Yudhiṣṭhira—the best of men—replied to that tiger among the Vṛṣṇis: “O Lord, O Lord, it is exactly so; your statement is correct.” The verse highlights Yudhiṣṭhira’s ethical humility and readiness to affirm sound counsel when spoken by one endowed with wisdom.
युधिष्ठिर उवाच
The verse underscores ethical receptivity: a righteous ruler should recognize and affirm true counsel, especially when it comes from a wise guide. Yudhiṣṭhira’s assent—“evam etat”—models humility and commitment to dharma over ego.
After Kṛṣṇa speaks, Yudhiṣṭhira responds respectfully, addressing him as “prabho” and confirming that Kṛṣṇa’s statement is correct. It is a brief exchange that signals agreement and deference to Kṛṣṇa’s wisdom.
