Uttarā-vilāpaḥ and Kṛṣṇasya satya-vacanenābhi-mañyu-jasyābhijīvanam

अजानतीमिषीकेयं जनित्रीं हन्त्विति प्रभो | अहमेव विनष्टा स्यां नैतदेवंगते भवेत्,'प्रभो! पुण्डरीकाक्ष! यदि धर्मराज अथवा आर्य भीमसेन या आपने ही ऐसा कह दिया होता कि यह सींक इस बालकको न मारकर इसकी अनजान माताको ही मार डाले, तब केवल मैं ही नष्ट हुई होती। उस दशामें यह अनर्थ नहीं होता
ajānatīm iṣīkeyaṁ janitrīṁ hantv iti prabho | aham eva vinaṣṭā syāṁ naitad evaṁgate bhavet ||
Vaiśampāyana said: “O lord! O Puṇḍarīkākṣa! If Dharmarāja, or noble Bhīmasena, or you yourself had said, ‘Let this iṣīkā strike down the boy’s unsuspecting mother instead of the child,’ then only I would have perished; in such a situation this calamity would not have come to pass.”
