Chapter 6
evam ukto maruttaḥ sa nāradena maharṣiṇā | vipralambham upādhyāyāt sarvam eva nyavedayat ||
Thus addressed by the great sage Nārada, King Marutta related in full the entire matter of his separation from his preceptor (royal priest). The passage underscores a dharmic norm: when faced with a moral or ritual crisis, one should disclose the truth to a trustworthy sage and seek guidance rather than act in isolation.
व्यास उवाच
The verse highlights a dharmic practice: when one faces a rupture with one’s teacher or ritual guide, one should candidly report the situation to a competent sage and seek corrective counsel, valuing truth and proper guidance over secrecy or impulsive action.
After Nārada speaks to him, King Marutta tells Nārada the complete account of his separation from his upādhyāya (royal priest/preceptor), setting up Nārada’s role as advisor in resolving the issue.
