Adhyāya 51: Kṛṣṇa’s Leave-Taking and Departure for Dvārakā (द्वारकागमनानुमति)

vāyudeva uvāca | ity uktaḥ sa tadā śiṣyo guruṇā dharmam uttamam | cakāra sarva kaunteya tato mokṣam avāptavān |

Vāyudeva said: “Thus instructed by his teacher, that disciple then practiced the highest dharma in full. Therefore, O son of Kuntī, he attained liberation—freedom from the bondage of worldly existence.”

Educational Q&A

Right instruction must be followed by complete practice: when the disciple fully performs the highest dharma taught by the guru, the fruit is mokṣa—release from saṃsāra’s bondage.

Vāyudeva concludes an exemplum addressed to Arjuna (Kaunteya): after the guru’s counsel, the disciple undertakes the prescribed supreme dharma in its entirety and, as a result, attains liberation.
