Adhvaryu–Yati Dialogue on Svabhāva, Ahiṃsā, and Mokṣa

The Brāhmaṇa said: “Beloved, when the Adhvaryu replied with sound reasoning, the ascetic fell silent and spoke no further. Then the Adhvaryu too, free from delusion, proceeded onward in that great sacrifice.”
Reasoned understanding dispels confusion: when a point is met with proper yukti (sound reasoning), contentious speech subsides, and one should proceed with clarity (nirmoha) in one’s rightful duty.
A debate between an ascetic (yati) and the sacrificial priest (adhvaryu) reaches a turning point: the ascetic becomes silent after the priest’s reasoned reply, and the priest, now free of doubt, continues the great sacrificial rite.
