Karma’s Non-Extinction, Jīva’s Entry into the Embryo, and Instruction on Conduct-Dharma

yathā prasūyamānas tu phalī dadyāt phalaṃ bahu | tathā syād vipulaṃ puṇyaṃ śuddhena manasā kṛtam ||

Just as a fruit-bearing tree, when it comes into season, yields abundant fruit, so too merit (puṇya) performed with a purified mind becomes exceedingly fruitful. The verse stresses that inner purity and intention are what make ethical action truly productive, not merely the outward act.

Educational Q&A

Merit grows in proportion to inner purity: actions done with a clean, sincere mind yield far greater ethical and spiritual results, just as a tree in season produces abundant fruit.

A Brahmin speaker uses a simple agrarian simile—fruiting season and a fruit tree—to instruct listeners that the quality of the mind behind an act determines the magnitude of its moral fruit (phala).
