ययाति-देवयानी-शर्मिष्ठा विवादः — Śukra’s Curse and the Disclosure of Lineage

Vaiśampāyana uvāca: evaṃ viṣādam āpannāṃ manyunā samprapīḍitām | varacanaiḥ madhuraiḥ ślakṣṇaiḥ sāntvayāmāsa tāṃ pitā ||

Vaiśampāyana said: Seeing Devayānī thus fallen into despair and severely oppressed by anger, her father consoled her with gentle, sweet, and well-chosen words—seeking to calm her turmoil and restore steadiness of mind.
