Chapter 74: Non-anger, Forbearance, and the Ethics of Residence

दहामाना मनोदु:खैव्यधिकभ्रि श्षातुरा नरा: | ह्वादन्ते स्वेषु दारेषु घर्मार्ता: सलिलेष्विव,'जैसे धूपसे तपे हुए जीव जलमें स्नान कर लेनेपर शान्तिका अनुभव करते हैं, उसी प्रकार जो मानसिक दुःख और चिन्ताओंकी आगमें जल रहे हैं तथा जो नाना प्रकारके रोगोंसे पीड़ित हैं, वे मानव अपनी पत्नीके समीप होनेपर आनन्दका अनुभव करते हैं

dahāmānā manoduḥkhair vyadhikabhṛśa-śāturā narāḥ | hlādante sveṣu dāreṣu gharmārtāḥ salileṣv iva ||

Duṣyanta said: “Men who are being scorched by the fires of mental sorrow, and who are severely afflicted by disease, find refreshment and delight in the presence of their own wives—just as those tormented by the heat feel peace and relief when they enter cool water.”
