King Duḥṣanta’s Entry into the Forest Hunt
तस्यां नद्यामजनयन्मिथुनं पर्वत: स्वयम् । तस्माद् विमोक्षणात् प्रीता नदी राज्ञे न््यवेदयत्,पर्वतने उस नदीके गर्भसे एक पुत्र और एक कन्या, जुड़वीं संतान उत्पन्न की थी। उसके अवरोधसे मुक्त करनेके कारण प्रसन्न हुई नदीने राजा उपरिचरको अपनी दोनों संतानें समर्पित कर दीं
tasyāṃ nadyām ajanayan mithunaṃ parvataḥ svayam | tasmād vimokṣaṇāt prītā nadī rājñe nyavedayat ||
Vaiśampāyana said: In that river, the mountain himself begot a pair of twins. Pleased because she had been released from obstruction, the river presented those two children to King Uparicara. The episode underscores a moral logic of gratitude and rightful offering: when a benefaction is received, it is met with a fitting return, and what is born of extraordinary causes is entrusted to legitimate royal guardianship for protection and order.
