Duḥṣantasya Vana-praveśaḥ

King Duḥṣanta’s Entry into the Forest Hunt

tathā putraśataṃ jajñe dhṛtarāṣṭrasya dhīmataḥ | duryodhana-prabhūtayo yuyutsuḥ karaṇas tathā ||

Daśa said: Thus the wise king Dhṛtarāṣṭra begot a hundred sons, headed by Duryodhana; and he also had Yuyutsu, called Karaṇa as well. The passage underscores the expansion of the Kuru line through Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s offspring, while also noting Yuyutsu’s distinct maternal origin—an ethical marker that later bears on questions of loyalty, legitimacy, and dharma within the family conflict.
