Educational Q&A

The verse models the disciplined method of learning in itihāsa: respectful inquiry to a qualified teacher, and careful attention to lineage and names as carriers of memory, responsibility, and dharma within a tradition.

Śaunaka, in the setting of a learned dialogue, requests the sage to enumerate the Nāgas connected with the Kaurava line, preparing for a genealogical and mythic account that links serpent-beings to the broader Kuru/Kaurava history.
