Officiants and Assembly at Janamejaya’s Serpent-Sacrifice

Takṣaka said: “Having spoken thus, my husband—rich in ascetic power—departed, O brother. Therefore, O king, let this intense sorrow that has settled in your mind be dispelled.”

Educational Q&A

The verse emphasizes reassurance grounded in trust and tapas: when a person of ascetic integrity has spoken, one should let go of debilitating grief and regain steadiness of mind.

Takṣaka speaks to a king and a ‘brother’ figure, reporting that her tapas-rich husband has departed after giving assurances; she urges the listener to abandon the great sorrow lodged in his mind.
