Jaratkāru’s Marital Compact and Departure
taṁ dṛṣṭvā jīvitaṁ vṛkṣaṁ kāśyapena mahātmanā | uvāca takṣako brahman naitad atyadbhutaṁ tvayi ||
Seeing that the tree had been restored to life by the great-souled Kāśyapa, Takṣaka said: “O Brahmin, this is not at all astonishing in you.” The moment underscores reverence for true spiritual power and acknowledges that mastery of mantras and ascetic merit naturally yields extraordinary results.
Extraordinary outcomes are presented as natural consequences of genuine spiritual discipline and mantra-knowledge; true power is recognized without envy, and reverence is shown to realized authority.
Kāśyapa revives a tree, demonstrating his mantra-power; witnessing this, Takṣaka addresses him respectfully and remarks that such a feat is unsurprising for a Brahmin of Kāśyapa’s stature.
