tenaivam ukto janamejayas taṁ pratyuvāca bhagavaṁs tat tathā bhaviṣyatīti, śrutaśravāke—“bhagavan! sarvaṁ kiñcid api tasya rucy-anusāreṇaiva bhaviṣyati.”
Thus addressed, King Janamejaya replied to him, “Revered sir, so it shall indeed be.” In other words, Janamejaya affirms that everything will proceed in accordance with the other’s intention—an ethical posture of assent and deference to the wise and to the proper course of events.
राम उवाच
The verse highlights a dharmic attitude of respectful assent: a king acknowledges the authority of a revered speaker and agrees that events should unfold in accordance with proper intention and counsel.
Janamejaya, having been addressed, responds formally and affirmatively—“So it shall be”—signaling acceptance of what has been proposed or explained and allowing the narration/ritual-discourse to proceed.
