Vaiśampāyana said: Then the swift and valiant Sahadeva, son of Mādrī, made a bed upon the ground with kuśa grass. Thereafter, just as each of the heroes spread out his own deerskin, all the warriors lay down and slept upon the earth—accepting simple, disciplined rest in keeping with their austere way of life.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights disciplined simplicity: even heroic figures accept austere living—sleeping on the ground with kuśa grass and deerskins—reflecting self-control, endurance, and a dharmic readiness to live without luxury.
Sahadeva prepares a resting place on the earth using kuśa grass. Then all the heroes spread their own deerskins and sleep on the ground, marking a pause in the journey or forest setting with orderly, communal rest.
