तत:ः शतसहसांशुर्म थ्यमानात्तु सागरात्‌ । प्रसन्नात्मा समुत्पन्न: सोम: शीतांशुरुज्ज्वल:,फिर तो उस महासागरसे अनन्त किरणोंवाले सूर्यके समान तेजस्वी, शीतल प्रकाशसे युक्त, श्वैतवर्ण एवं प्रसन्नात्मा चन्द्रमा प्रकट हुआ

tataḥ śatasahasāṃśur mathyamānāt tu sāgarāt | prasannātmā samutpannaḥ somaḥ śītāṃśur ujjvalaḥ ||

Then, as the great ocean was being churned, Soma—the Moon—arose from it: radiant with cool beams, bright like a sun of countless rays, and serene in nature.
