Educational Q&A

The verse affirms a classical dharma perspective: establishing the supports of household life—spouse, offspring, resources, and a home—is considered necessary for attaining both immediate worldly stability (dṛṣṭa) and longer-term, unseen religious merit and posthumous welfare (adṛṣṭa).

A brāhmaṇa speaker is presenting a normative conclusion attributed to the wise, explaining why household institutions and possessions are to be deliberately arranged: they function as instruments for fulfilling duties and securing both worldly and otherworldly outcomes.
