‘Noble lady, you already know the suffering that women experience in this world arising from desire. Auspicious one, that very anguish born of passion has now come upon me—brought about through your son Bhīmasena.’
वैशमग्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the painful consequences of kāma (desire) and frames it as a recognizable, ethically significant form of suffering—especially in the context of women—implying the need for restraint and responsibility for actions driven by passion.
A woman addresses another respected woman, stating that the well-known pain women endure due to desire has now befallen her, and she attributes this passion-born distress to the agency of Bhīmasena (the other woman’s son).
