तमापततन्तं दृष्टवैव तथा विकृतदर्शनम् । हिडिम्बोवाच वित्रस्ता भीमसेनमिदं वच:,देखनेमें विकराल उस राक्षस हिडिम्बको आते देखकर ही हिडिम्बा भयसे थर्रा उठी और भीमसेनसे इस प्रकार बोली--
tam āpatantaṃ dṛṣṭvaiva tathā vikṛtadarśanam | hiḍimbo vāca vitrastā bhīmasenam idaṃ vacaḥ ||
Vaiśampāyana said: Seeing the hideous-looking rākṣasa Hiḍimba rushing toward them, Hiḍimbā trembled in fear and spoke these words to Bhīmasena—setting in motion the encounter in which protection of the vulnerable and the duty to confront violent threat become central.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse frames an ethical moment: when a violent threat approaches, fear is natural, but it also prompts seeking protection and summoning courage—preparing the ground for dharmic defense of those in danger.
Hiḍimba, a terrifying rākṣasa, is seen charging in. Hiḍimbā becomes frightened and immediately addresses Bhīmasena, introducing her urgent warning and the impending confrontation.
