Kuntī–Yudhiṣṭhira Dialogue on Bhīma’s Mission

ते वयं धृतराष्ट्रस्य प्रेषयामो दुरात्मन: । संवृत्तस्ते पर: काम: पाण्डवान्‌ दग्धवानसि,“अब हमलोग दुरात्मा धृतराष्ट्रके पास यह संदेश भेज दें कि तुम्हारी सबसे बड़ी कामना पूरी हो गयी। तुम पाण्डवोंको जलानेमें सफल हो गये”

te vayaṃ dhṛtarāṣṭrasya preṣayāmo durātmanaḥ | saṃvṛttas te paraḥ kāmaḥ pāṇḍavān dagdhavān asi ||

Vaiśampāyana said: “Come, let us send this message to the wicked Dhṛtarāṣṭra: ‘Your greatest desire has been fulfilled. You have succeeded in burning the Pāṇḍavas.’” The line is spoken with bitter irony, exposing the moral collapse in wishing harm upon one’s own kin and treating catastrophe as the satisfaction of desire.
