Educational Q&A

Effective outcomes arise when personal effort is applied vigorously and in harmony with circumstances—here, rowing skill aligns with current and favorable wind—suggesting practical wisdom: act decisively and use supportive conditions without neglecting one’s own duty.

Vidura describes a swift river crossing: the boatmen row powerfully, the river’s current carries them, and a favorable wind assists, so the travelers quickly reach the opposite bank.
