Vaiśampāyana said: “This is that wicked man’s well-stocked armoury, filled with weapons. Relying on it, this great structure has been built. Near the surrounding rampart there is no outlet—no means of escape. Thus the sinister deed Duryodhana intends to carry out must have already been known to Vidura; that is why he informed us beforehand.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Adharma operates through secrecy and engineered helplessness, but dharmic vigilance—embodied here by Vidura’s foresight and warning—creates the possibility of protection. The verse highlights the ethical contrast between malicious planning and responsible counsel.
The speaker identifies a weapon-filled armoury connected with a large, strategically designed structure that offers no easy escape near its enclosing wall. This is presented as evidence of Duryodhana’s ominous intention, and it is inferred that Vidura had already understood the danger and therefore alerted the intended victims.
