एकचक्रानिवासप्रस्तावः | Ekacakrā Sojourn—Vyāsa’s Consolation and Directive

sa gatvā tvaritaṃ rājan duryodhanamate sthitaḥ | yathoktaṃ rājaputreṇa sarvaṃ cakre purocanaḥ ||

Vaiśampāyana said: O King, Purocana—acting in accordance with Duryodhana’s intent—went swiftly (to Vāraṇāvata) and carried out everything exactly as the prince had instructed. The verse underscores how an agent, driven by loyalty to a wrongful command, can become the instrument of adharma through prompt and efficient obedience.

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights ethical accountability: executing a superior’s plan with speed and precision does not absolve one of moral responsibility. Loyalty that serves an unjust intention becomes complicity in adharma.

Purocana, aligned with Duryodhana’s scheme, quickly goes to Vāraṇāvata and completes all arrangements exactly as Duryodhana instructed—setting the stage for the ensuing plot against the Pāṇḍavas.
