Educational Q&A

True renown arises from sustained virtue: noble character (śīla), ethical conduct (vṛtta), and steady, focused commitment to one’s responsibilities (samādhi). A ruler’s greatness is measured less by lineage and more by disciplined dharmic governance.

Vaiśaṃpāyana states that, as time passed, Yudhiṣṭhira’s exemplary qualities and devoted performance of royal duty became so outstanding that his fame came to surpass—figuratively ‘eclipse’—even the celebrated reputation of his father Pāṇḍu.
