Vaiśampāyana said: Droṇa said, “Restrain these two great heroes—both fully trained and fit for combat. Let there not arise a tumult in the arena born of Bhīma and Duryodhana, lest anger spread on all sides.” The verse highlights the teacher’s duty to prevent rivalry from turning into public disorder and to curb wrath before it becomes violence.

Educational Q&A

A teacher and authority figure must prevent trained power from being driven by anger; discipline and restraint are part of dharma, especially when rivalry could inflame a crowd and lead to harm.

During a public martial display in the arena, Droṇa instructs that the two formidable fighters be stopped, fearing that the Bhīma–Duryodhana hostility will erupt into a wider disturbance.
