उन महात्मा ब्राह्मगको देखकर वे सभी कुमार उनके पास गये और उन्हें घेरकर खड़े हो गये। उनका उत्साह भंग हो गया था। कोई काम करनेकी इच्छा नहीं होती थी। मनमें भारी निराशा भर गयी थी
taṁ mahātmā brāhmaṇaṁ dṛṣṭvā te sarve kumārās tasya samīpaṁ jagmuḥ | taṁ parivārya tiṣṭhantaḥ teṣāṁ utsāho bhagnaḥ | na kiñcit kartum icchā bhavati | manasi gurvī nirāśā samabhavat |
Seeing that great-souled brāhmaṇa, all the young princes went up to him and stood surrounding him. Their spirit had been broken; they no longer felt any desire to act. A heavy hopelessness filled their minds—showing how inner resolve collapses when confidence and purpose are lost, and how guidance from the wise becomes necessary at such a moment.
वैशग्पायन उवाच
When enthusiasm and purpose collapse, action becomes impossible; the episode highlights the ethical need to seek steadiness and right counsel from the wise rather than remaining trapped in despair.
All the young princes approach a great brāhmaṇa, surround him, and stand there in a dejected state—their resolve broken and their minds filled with heavy hopelessness.
