ततो द्रोणो वृत: शिष्यैरुपगम्य भगूद्धहम् । आचर्ख्यावात्मनो नाम जन्म चाजड्डिरस: कुले,तत्पश्चात् शिष्योंसहित द्रोणने भृगुश्रेष्ठ परशुरामजीके समीप जाकर अपना नाम बताया और यह भी कहा कि “मेरा जन्म आंगिरस कुलमें हुआ है'
tato droṇo vṛtaḥ śiṣyair upagamya bhṛgūdvaham | ācakhyāv ātmano nāma janma cāṅgirasaḥ kule ||
Then Droṇa, surrounded by his disciples, approached the foremost of the Bhṛgus (Paraśurāma). He declared his own name and also stated his lineage, saying that he was born in the line of Aṅgiras—thus formally introducing himself in accordance with the respectful etiquette of approaching a revered teacher.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights proper conduct when approaching a revered teacher: one should come respectfully (often with companions/disciples), and clearly state one’s name and lineage. This reflects the Mahābhārata’s emphasis on ācāra (right etiquette) as part of dharma, especially in the guru–śiṣya context.
Droṇa, accompanied by his disciples, goes to Paraśurāma—celebrated as the foremost of the Bhṛgu lineage—and formally introduces himself by giving his name and stating that he is of the Āṅgirasa line. This sets the stage for seeking instruction/association with the renowned master.
