Vaiśampāyana said: “Now I shall set forth for you the manifold truth of dharma; listen and understand from me. This ancient principle of righteousness was directly realized by great-souled seers who truly know dharma.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Dharma is presented as an ancient, many-sided truth that is not merely argued but ‘seen’ or directly realized by authoritative sages; the listener is urged to understand it attentively.
The narrator Vaiśampāyana transitions into a didactic passage, announcing that he will explain the principle of dharma and grounding his exposition in the seers’ direct realization and expertise.
