Pāṇḍu’s Funeral Rites and Public Mourning
संसक्तश्न तया मृग्या मानुषीमीरयन् गिरम् । क्षणेन पतितो भूमौ विललापाकुलेन्द्रिय:,वे उस मृगीसे सटे हुए ही मनुष्योंकी-सी बोली बोलते हुए क्षणभरमें पृथ्वीपर गिर पड़े। उनकी इन्द्रियाँ व्याकुल हो गयीं और वे विलाप करने लगे
saṁsaktaś ca tayā mṛgyā mānuṣīm īrayan giram | kṣaṇena patito bhūmau vilalāpākulendriyaḥ ||
Clinging closely to that doe and uttering words in a human-like voice, he suddenly fell to the ground. His senses became agitated, and he began to lament—showing how attachment can swiftly unseat self-control and bring a person to distress.
