ननन्द माता कौसल्या तमप्रतिमतेजसम् । जयन्तमिव पौलोमी परिष्वज्य नरर्षभम्,भारत! तत्पश्चात् सत्यवतीने पाण्डुद्वारा जीतकर लाये हुए शुभ धनके द्वारा भीष्म और यशस्विनी कौसल्याको भी संतुष्ट किया। माता कौसल्याने अनुपम तेजस्वी नरश्रेष्ठ पाण्डुकी उसी प्रकार हृदयसे लगाकर उनका अभिनन्दन किया, जैसे शची अपने पुत्र जयन्तका अभिनन्दन करती हैं

nananda mātā kauśalyā tam apratimatejasam |
jayantam iva paulomī pariṣvajya nararṣabham, bhārata ||
Vaiśampāyana said: Mother Kauśalyā rejoiced. Embracing that bull among men, Pāṇḍu—whose splendor was beyond compare—she welcomed him just as Paulomī (Śacī) welcomes her son Jayanta. The scene underscores familial affection and the honoring of a worthy son returning with auspicious gains, bringing satisfaction to elders and strengthening household harmony.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the dharmic value of honoring merit and maintaining familial harmony: a worthy son’s return is met with affectionate welcome, and elders’ satisfaction is treated as an auspicious good.
Vaiśampāyana narrates that Kauśalyā, delighted by Pāṇḍu’s return and excellence, embraces and welcomes him, likening her joy to Śacī’s greeting of her son Jayanta.
