Vaiśampāyana said: O king, Kuntibhoja, the lord of the land, having then solemnized the marriage of Kuntī and Pāṇḍu, honored them with countless and splendid riches. Thereafter that king sent Pāṇḍu to his own capital. The passage underscores the dharmic completion of marriage rites and the royal duty of bestowing gifts and honor upon the newly married couple before their departure to begin household life in the husband’s realm.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights dharma in household and royal life: marriage is to be completed through proper rites, and elders/guardians should honor the couple with gifts and support. Such generosity and orderly transition to the husband’s home are presented as socially and ethically appropriate conduct.
Kuntibhoja performs the wedding of Kuntī and Pāṇḍu, honors them with abundant wealth, and then sends Pāṇḍu onward to his own capital, marking the formal conclusion of the marriage ceremony and the couple’s departure to begin their life in Pāṇḍu’s realm.
